Meet Nathan!

Nathan Irwin | Creator of Method Muscle

I didn’t set out to build a brand. I set out to take back control of my life, and the gym happened to be the place where I found it.

In early 2021, after one of the hardest years I'm sure a lot of us have been through, I turned to lifting as a way to feel grounded again. At first it was just a hobby, something that gave me a sense of capability. But it quickly became more. By the spring of 2022, I switched my major from computer science to exercise science, and I haven’t looked back.

In the summer of 2024, I started an internship with Jake Walters at Ansuz Strength. That experience reshaped the way I looked at training and coaching, and it showed me what it really means to serve people. In May 2025 I began building something of my own, and in June Method Muscle officially went live as I separated from Ansuz Strength to step fully into my own path.

My story actually starts even earlier. For more than 13 years I’ve been part of community theatre. That is where I learned discipline, expression, and what it means to commit fully to something bigger than yourself. That influence still shows up in how I coach today.

That is why I created Method Muscle. The name comes from method acting, the practice of immersing yourself so deeply into a role that it becomes second nature. I believe training works the same way. When you throw yourself into the process, into the grind and the discipline and the art of getting stronger, it becomes more than lifting weights. It becomes a performance of strength.

I coach strength and hypertrophy training, weight loss, and physique development both in person and online with custom programming and nutrition guidance. But more than any of that, I believe in connection. The personal in personal training is what matters most. Experience is important, but if you cannot build real trust with the people you coach, none of it lasts.

My goal with Method Muscle is simple. I want to build something that makes an impact. Whether that shows up in your body, your mindset, or your community, I want to help you train with purpose and live with strength.
