Nathan Irwin | Creator of Method Muscle

I didn’t set out to create a fitness brand — I set out to take back control of my life, and the gym just happened to be where I found it.

In early 2021, during one of the hardest years I’m sure many of us have faced, I turned to strength training as a way to ground myself. It started as a simple hobby, something that made me feel capable again. But it didn’t stay simple for long. By the spring of 2022, I made the leap from computer science to exercise science — and I haven’t looked back since.

In the summer of 2024, I landed an internship with Jake Walters, owner of Ansuz Strength. That experience transformed the way I thought about training, coaching, and what it meant to truly serve others. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in exercise science that December, fully ready to take Method Muscle from an idea to a reality.

But if we’re talking origins — my story really starts on stage.

For over 13 years, I’ve been part of community theatre. It’s where I learned discipline, expression, and the art of committing fully to something bigger than yourself. That background influences every part of my approach to training — not just in aesthetics, but in philosophy.

That’s why I created Method Muscle.

The name is inspired by method acting — immersing yourself so deeply into a role that it becomes second nature. I believe training can do the same thing. When you let yourself get lost in the process — in the art of building strength, confidence, and control — you don’t just lift weights. You perform with strength.

I specialize in strength and hypertrophy training, as well as weight-loss, both in-person and online, with custom programming and nutritional guidance. But more than anything, I believe in connection. Experience matters, but the personal in personal training is everything. If you can’t build real trust and relationships with the people you coach, what’s the point?

My goal with Method Muscle is simple: build something that makes an impact. Whether that’s in your physique, your mindset, or your community — I want to help people train with purpose and live with strength. I’ve already started expanding into apparel and supplements, but the core of the brand will always be personal.
